FAQs
Are Laser Shows safe?
The first and primary conversations we have with our customers is laser safety.
Our laser projection systems use a high-powered Class IV laser which requires an official variance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and laser safety training. Audio Visual Imagineering, Inc. (AVI) works with the FDA on your behalf to provide an approved variance for your institution.
AVI has worked with the FDA for over 45 years and has maintained an unblemished laser safety record. This is a result of our strict adherence to FDA laser safety standards for ourselves and our customers.
You can read more about laser safety at the International Laser Display Association Laser Safety Website here.
What training do I need?
Our SkyLase products come with a comprehensive setup, maintenance and training manual as well as access to online tutorials. AVI provides onsite training during installation.
Do I need any kind of a license or permit for the laser?
Yes. AVI will obtain a variance from the FDA for laser shows at your site. This variance must be renewed annually which is covered by our annual subscription.
Who is responsible for Music Licensing?
The venue presenting the laser shows is responsible for obtaining music performance rights. Most of the music offered in AVI laser shows are covered by ASCAP and BMI. New songs may require SEASAC and Global Music rights. Should this be the case, AVI will alert you.
