Michael and Kimthanh Lê Digital Theater and Planetarium

A SkyLase FX with two mid-air laser projectors was installed February 2021 in the Old Dominion University’s newest planetarium, the Michael and Kimthanh Lê Digital Theater and Planetarium. This premiere planetarium of Hampton Roads replaces the 50 year old Pretlow Planetarium and paves the way for the next 50 years of science, education and outreach. “While we will remain closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, we hope to open our new facility to the public in summer of 2021”, says Justin Mason, Planetarium Director. Until then, the residents of Hampton Roads will continue to dream in laser light, patiently awaiting the day that the doors to the planetarium open wide, welcoming guests to Laser Floyd, Laser Tribute and Fright Light!
